Violets and Violence was such an awesome read! Almost every time I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong. Except for the big twist... I saw it coming a mile away very early on in the story. Don't worry Morgan, I love figuring things out! ;) With that said, I LOVED IT!I would totally pay to see the Violets show. I would also let Carter manage the bell out of my money if I had any.
I was annoyed with Rinker and Lindsey, as I suppose I should have been. Luke grated on my nerves as well, but he didn't turn out to be as awful as I was expecting.
Violet fascinated me from start to finish. As did Carter. And of course Edie. <3
Morgan Parker has earned five stars for plenty of intrigue, suspense, love, and of course... MAGIC!

I was given this novel as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Since reading the ARC, I have purchased the e-book & also the paperback – YES, it is that good.

It is no secret that I am a Morgan Parker fan. He has once again written my favorite type of story – a mystery with romance.
The story centers on the main characters Violet, Carter & Luke. Were their lives an illusion just as Violet's performances were. Magic; it is there in many forms…..
Morgan kept my attention with his magical weaving of this story. I continuously tried analyzing the how & why’s of where the story was going. I became a fan of Carter & wanted to rip the hair out of Violet’s head. I could not figure out Luke. (I still can’t.) I don't feel that I can give you a synopsis of the story line without giving you a spoiler. The story is so interwoven. Morgan’s writing style pushed me to finish the story to the end. The end came too quick. Why? I wanted more. That is what reading a novel by Morgan Parked does to me.
I encourage you to read this novel. Is Violet, Carter & Luke's life & love an illusion?
It's hard to give the review I want to give without giving too much away. There are twists and turns, tiny clues mingled in, that take you on a great ride. You may want to read it twice to make sure you catch them! I could say more but, then you'd know how the illusion is performed. 😉
This book kept me guessing and second guessing almost until the very end. I couldn't get enough of the characters and the crazy roller coaster ride their lives go on. Once you think you have it figured out you get duped again....I enjoyed every minute of it though!!!
I have read every single one of Morgan Parker's books and I am always in awe of both his talent and ability to keep surprising with his creativity. With Violets & Violence, it's as if his writing has been taken to a whole new level. The storyline, while intricate at times, kept me incredibly fascinated. From beginning to end. I was intrigued right from the start and didn't come up for air until I finished the very last line.
At first glance the story seems to simply revolve around an illusions act, yet there are many other facets at play. Violet, our heroine, is seemingly involved romantically with her 'manager' Luke. Yet she also seems to be drawn to Carter, whom she brings onstage as a volunteer one night at her show. While Violet tries to juggle both her love life and her career, there are other players who want nothing more than to destroy her successful life by forcing her to repay a debt that was used to make her dreams come true.
The use of mystery and illusion to convey this storyline was utterly brilliant. I never knew what to expect next and my heart raced while taking the wild journey that this book delivered. I was caught up in the love that Luke had for Violet, yet was completely taken with Carter's affection for her as well. The absolutely sinister secondary characters that were hell bent on trying to break Violet and her world were written perfectly and added more to the already complicated puzzle.
Morgan Parker is able to combine some very sexy scenes, together with ones that are downright gritty, with ease. His way of writing is smart and can be both conventional and complex at the same time. He pays attention to detail and you become completely immersed into the storyline from the very start. I wanted to know the hows and whys and was happily rewarded at the conclusion. I was very pleasantly surprised and had that huge 'aha' moment when all was said and done!
This book has the mystery to keep you on edge. The romance and passion to keep you interested and the unique premise to keep you fully engaged.
Truly a story like no other. One that has stayed with me and forced me to reread immediately just to fully comprehend what had just transpired. In truth, I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed a thing. Every word is to be savored.
I'm thrilled to tell you that Violets & Violence is a bit of a mindf**k that made me smile happily. This book is well worth your time and deserves a huge 5 stars.
