Loved this book! It is helping me prepare for my first years of teaching. Bill shares many great tips of how to get your students motivated and strategies to use in the classroom. Definitely worth reading!!!
I read this book for my classroom management class at Ball State. It is one of the most helpful books I have read. You can hear Bill's bright personality in every page of the book. He has very useful tips and really gets you excited about teaching! Would highly recommend to any pre-service, or service teacher!
I LOVE this book. As a future teacher, I cannot wait to implement all of Bill Cecil's ideas into my classroom. He writes it in a way where he shares his experiences, but also makes it known that he wants us to personalize his ideas. He encourages us to steal his ideas, but to use them however he wants. This book was not only fun to read, but was very helpful. I recommend it to first year teachers as well as veteran teachers.
This book was really helpful to read as a pre-service teacher. It was a requirement for a class that I was taking, but I would recommend it to anyone who is in the education field or working in a leadership role with children. The book mentions MANY helpful classroom management tips that will allow both you (the teacher) and your student achieve more throughout the year, as well as create a more positive and inviting environment for students. I cannot wait to try these out in my future classroom!!
I bought this due to the great reviews, but, honestly, didn't get past the second chapter. Cecil's writing style is very overdone and repetitive. He would make a point and then repeat it in about half a dozen ways. Very tedious.
This is one of the most inspiring, useful books on motivational teaching I have ever read. Bill's enthusiasm spills out of the pages and into your mind as you will want to emulate the many methods this former teacher of the year uses to create a classroom community. Forget the pedagogical buzzwords, the tiresome lingo and theoretical posturing. Mr. Cecil's experiences and suggestions are practical, applicable and hits home to every educator who desires to motivate and inspire his or her students. Real advice, real experiences from a real down-to-earth, but other worldly teacher. A must read.
This is a wonderful book! As a preservice teacher I have felt overwhelmed by everything that I need to do in my classroom to be effective. This book has really opened my eyes. It has made me realize that it really is possible to put everything I've learned into practice. Whether you've been teaching one year or thirty years I truly believe there is something in this book to make your classroom a better place. Cecil is a true inspiration. I hope that after over twenty years of teaching I still have the passion and drive for teaching like Bill Cecil.
